Whitsbury is one of a cluster of pretty villages set within the rolling chalk downland countryside of the Hampshire/Dorset borders. The village itself is home to a community steeped in the heritage and success of the local racehorse stables and stud, and is further buoyed by the presence of a popular public house, The Cartwheel, now privately owned and recently refurbished, a village hall and church. The Avonside town of Fordingbridge (approx. 3 miles) has a range of educational, health and recreational services sufficient to cater for most everyday needs, whilst the local road network draws the regional centres of Salisbury, Bournemouth and Southampton within daily commuting distance. Whitsbury Down provides a glorious setting for walking and riding enthusiasts and the New Forest National Park to the east, provides thousands of acres of unspoiled moor, heath and woodland. Footpaths lead in all directions from the cottage.

To the front of the cottage there is a shingle area offset by hedging and flower/herb beds. To the side and rear there is a reclaimed sleeper retaining wall incorporating steps up to an area of lawn enclosed by established trees and hedging with a pedestrian access onto a footpath that leads to St. Leonards Church, and beyond via a network of footpaths and bridleways. Adjacent to the garden there are attractive views over adjoining parkland style grazing land. A power and water point at the top of the rear garden would facilitate a studio/summerhouse.

New Forest District Council. Tax Band: E. Amount payable 2020/21: £2154.56

Mains water and electricity. Private shared drainage with Nos. 1 and 2 The Close. Electric radiator heating.

Leave Fordingbridge via Green Lane which in turn becomes Whitsbury Road. Follow the road for about 3 miles and having entered the village, pass The Cartwheel Inn on the right hand side and the cottage will be found after a further short distance on the right, elevated and set back from the village road.
