The picturesque village of Martin nestles within the rolling countryside of the Cranborne Chase, where a network of country paths and bridle ways access lovely walking and riding countryside across Martin Down. The cottage is indeed accessed via one such bridle way that provides direct access to the Downs.
The active community is well supported by a village hall, which is home to a community shop, and a church, while the neighbouring village of Damerham (approx 3 miles) has a reputable primary school, garage and popular public house. The Avonside town of Fordingbridge (approx. 6 miles) has a range of health, educational, shopping and recreational services sufficient to cater for most day to day needs and the Cathedral City of Salisbury, which offers a broader range of facilities including reputable state and private schooling, is almost equidistant via the A354.
Beyond Fordingbridge the A338 and B3078 provide ready access to Bournemouth and Southampton respectively with the latter linking with Junction 1 of the M27. The outdoor enthusiast is equally well catered for, not only by the surrounding countryside but also by the New Forest National Park ( approx 8 miles). Sailing opportunities abound on the South Coast and Golf on numerous courses.
A wooden gate opens to a gravel driveway that sweeps around the side of the cottage to a detached oak-framed CARPORT with hard standing to the side and ample additional parking space. Adjoining the carport is a WORKSHOP (power and light connected) and LOG STORE.
The cottage sits in grounds approaching 2/3 acre that comprise delightful cottage gardens and more natural, wild flower meadow. A pathway winds between colourful, well stocked shrub beds and mature trees, emerging to a set of steps leading down to a private patio at the front of the cottage. An area of lawn is flanked by further mature beds and borders, which continue around the cottage. To the south-east is a large expanse of grassland that has been cultivated as wild flower meadow with a series of mown walkways supplying access to a Summerhouse, the perfect spot in which to enjoy the afternoon and evening sun in this tranquil setting.
