Property Description

An interesting brick built store with potential for alternative uses (subject to planning). The property will be offered for sale by informal tender. The deadline for the tender will be 12 Noon on Tuesday 14th July 2020.

The brick built store was constructed in 1850 and is constructed over two floors. There are wide timber ground floor double doors plus a single ‘hayloft’ door above on the front and a steel door to one side providing additional single storey storage capacity.

Internally the property has concrete flooring and a series of windows to the rear of the building. There is a hatch, but no ladder to the first floor which has wooden flooring.

There is a small concrete area at the rear which could provide possible outside storage if required. The property has been used as a store in recent years.

Access to the property is directly off the A4 London Road over a shared tarmac driveway.

Historical Note
The main part of the building was built in 1850 as evidenced by the inscription in the date stone high up on the east facing gable end. The property was once believed to have housed hay, hoisted into the loft on the first floor using the large single doorway with possibly horses in stables below. The stables are no longer evident but as the property is adjacent to the A4 old London to Bristol coaching road, this would have made a convenient stop for weary horses with the travellers staying in inns closer to the town centre.

Method of Sale
The property will be offered for sale by informal tender. The deadline for the tender will be 12 Noon on Thursday 14th July - for all further details please contact the agent.
